Diving Operation
Diving operation is a crucial process in the maritime industry that requires specialized technical knowledge. This procedure encompasses a wide range of applications, from ship maintenance to the repair of underwater structures.
According to Welding Consultants, there are three main methods for performing underwater welding. The first method involves constructing a containment around the area to be repaired and then using pressurized air to displace the water, creating a dry surface with the same pressure conditions as above the water. Welding is then performed under these normal conditions. The second method also uses a containment, but the water is displaced with helium. The welder wears breathing apparatus and completes the welding on a dry surface. The third method involves wet welding with an electrode that uses a gas mixture that allows the welding arc to dry instantly without being affected by the water. For this, the welder must be a qualified scuba diver and use specially designed equipment to prevent electrical shock.
